Hey guys, i recently alphabetized my DVD collection but i have only these really nasty boxes to keep them in, i dont want a shelf unit or anything, i just want boxes so i can keep them in order and i am able to stack the boxes.

Kind of like filing boxes but cheap also as i have 300+ DVD’s

Links would be great also, im in the UK too.
Any advice is good advice.

Hope these help! I cannot believe how many hundred of things out there for CD/DVD storage! Good luck.

I saw this product on QVC a long time ago.

Basically it’s a box where you can put a lot of cds/dvds in.. withOUT each individual case, and I guess you have a little note to where you put each disc and you can move the cursor to the "number" where that disc is placed and tap on something that will pop the disc out for you..

ahh bad description but I hope it helps?

Howards Storage World have them but they are SO expensive there, there must be someone else, right??

Do you mean: Ace Case Connexia; 50 Arkive 5:1 Single CD Sleeves Pack

These are the sleeves that allow the storage of DVD or CD media in a new single format sleeve with a rigid backing. Five single DVD’s or CD’s take now the same space as one before in a Jewel case.

I got them and the storage cases through:

I just downloaded Real Players DVD burning software on my Real Player. I have a DVD burner on my computer and new DVD-Rs. I just want to burn videos I have onto a DVD-R for backup purposes. I’m not trying to create/burn a DVD to watch on a DVD player. I just want the videos safe in case something happened to my computer.

Yes…..quite simply, however if it is copyrighted you may have to use DVD43 to decrypt….If they are your videos, store away data files take up less room on the dvd, Store Away!

What are the storage capacities of a CD and DVD used for replication?

CD is 700MB
DVD is 4.7 GB (4700MB)

DVD has more storage capacity

I’ve lost the cord and documentation.

Look near the power jack, or on the labels at the back/bottom. Most devices have stickers that indicate what voltage and polarity it’s supposed to have.

Example:

Above or below that icon it will probably say something like xxV yyA
This means the power supply must be xx volts, and [at least] yy amps.

I am wanting to save all my camcorder footage. I have already saved to DVD but would like a backup copy, only on a smaller storage medium. Would you recommend storing on a card ie SD memory card or a card of more durable quality. At the moment I have a copy on my laptop but would like to free up my storage space, as eventually this will fill up.
NB Thanks for the advice re dowloading my Canon Ixus 90 IS, this has now been resolved.

You do not say what sor of video camera you have and what format it is. If you are lucky and use a MIni-dv then you are in luck leave the footage on the tape, seal the case and put it in a cool safe place. that will last for many years.

I have tried to look at the Memory life of flash media, cannot find ant help on how long a flash drive will hold its files for. As the storage is volatile (can loose the information) if you put it away and leave it eventually the files stored on it will be lost.

DVD is a reasonable option, but if you wish to store the video in its original format then depending on the type of camera ( again ) you have you may be limited. if the video is of a compressed type, IE you have a media card, or HDD camera leave the video as it is and simply copy the files to a DVD ( Not as a dvd format) as they are. seal the dvd case and leave it alone. I have DVD’s that are 5-6 years old and now they are begining to fail.

Your last option is to get an external HDD, connect it to your USB port and copy the video onto it. again put the drive in a safe place and leave it until you wat to put more onto it. The data (video) will be safe. anf on say a 500gb drive you should be able to get 41 hours of pure AVI files, if you camera uses MP4 based video then you will be able to get much much more.

Leave the video as it comes off your camera. do not try to convert it, by using compressed codecs, it the footage is already compressed then all you are doing is uncompressing the video only to compress it again, NOT a good way to back up video as youare going to loose quality, especially if you plan to edit the footage.

Good luck

I want to burn a dvd but i only have 2622mb the imagei want to burn has 4199mb,how do i increase my mb?

It would be best to just use a new DVD. Sometimes overwriting an RW disc doesn’t work real well.
