When do you think bluray burners will be under $150 for PCs and standard on new Laptops (say from Dell)? When do you think you can walk into a Target and buy a spindle of blank BD discs for $20?
I think it will be a couple of years. I mean just look at the quick progression from CDs to DVDS. When the new PS3 starts becoming popular, and Blu Ray discs start selling, the price will start to come down. Maybe, its just wishful thinking thought!

I got a few BluRay videos on my computer and was wondering if there is a way to transmit them to my TV? My TV is 1080P has standard inputs, HDMI inputs, and a computer VGA input.
Is it even possible to do this?
yes it is possible……but you would need to have a converter box like this:

or you can just buy a graphics card for about 50 bucks and a dvi to hdmi cord for about 30 bucks. then you will need a headphone to rca jack cord for the audio.

I’m using convertxtodvd and wonder if its possible to do it?
Yes, it’s possible. I know Blu-ray movie is mkv video. You may take a look at this step by step guide, it will teach you how to convert and burn mkv video to DVD for playback, it works pretty well for me.

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR9 HDTV. If I buy a Sony or anyother 3D bluray player, will the bluray 3D media work with my television. And will it work with a Sony Bluray Player BDP-S360?
Will there be a free update to the people who own Sony bluray player S360, so it can also be a 3d player? Cause I have one and I bought it in December?
The BDPS360 will not play a 3D Blu-ray movie.
In order to take advantage of watching 3D you need the following:
3D HDTV
3D Blu-Ray (BDPS470 is 3D Ready)
3D Blu-Ray Disc
3D Glasses
3D Programming (only provided by DirecTV on 2 channels–one is ESPN and I forgot the other sry!)

On a bluray disc, is it possible to put it in your computer or something and block a certain scene??? PLEASE HELP ME!
I don’t think you can do that. But you could always just use the chapter guide and skip the scene when it comes along.

Some movies that aren’t available on BluRay at the moment are being shown on cable television channels in high definition. How do they do this?
High definition TV standards predate Blu-Ray by decades. There was even some analog HD back in the 70’s just not in North America because they took up more bandwidth than standard broadcasts.

If I buy a PS3 but I still have an antenna tv with a converter box, could I use the bluray on the ps3?
Of course. But if you want true hi-def that bluray delivers, than you need a HDTV, otherwise a Blu-ray might as well be an ordinary DVD on a non-HDTV.

I’ve been watching some new BD release of old flicks, and Bluray versions definitely look a lot sharper and color seem to pop out more.
I read somewhere that Criterion have been doing cleanups and touch-ups on there old collection frame by frame in order to create a Bluray version of the same film, it sounds very tedious and just all around hard to imagine.
Can someone explain to me how does upconverting old films to HD actually work?
Thanks!
Well first you have to understand what a blu-ray disk actually is(you may or may not know already). Blu-ray disks can hold such a massive amount of memory, what this means is more sounds, colors and effects can be fit onto the disk. Now the DVDs can only fit so much on the disk, so what a blu-ray player does is just really being able to read that much information. If you put a blu-ray disk into a blu-ray player it will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes to load the actual disk because theres so much information being read.
Now the way the upcovert works is big screens are sold with two different types of line counts, 720p and 1080p. Blu-ray converts its pictures to 1080p, so this means if you’re watching on a 720p TV the picture will be off a little. Now blu-ray players still will play regular DVDs and they will upconvert them to 1080p for your TV.
What happens with old movies being changed for HD is fairly simple. The movie is gone through frame by frame and the colors are enhanced and the detail is touched up, as well as the sound quality is completely remastered. The reason this is able to be done is because normal DVDs cannot hold all the information as to where blu-ray DVDs can.
